Chapter One: The Beginnings of Human Society (Prehistory-2500 B.C.)

Chapter One, students will learn about early cultures in the Stone Age, the development of farming during the New Stone Age, and the growth of the first civilizations.

 

Chapter Two: The Fertile Crescent (3500B.C.-A.D. 300)

Chapter Two, students will gain a detailed overview of civilizations in the Fertile Crescent including Babylonia, Assyria, and Mesopotamia.

 

Chapter Three: Ancient Egypt and Nubia (3100 B.C.-31 B.C)

Chapter Three, students will learn about the significant features of ancient Egypt and Nubia, two civiliztions that developed in the Nile Valley.

 

Chapter Four: Ancient India

Chapter Four, students will be introduced to the geography and civilizations of ancient India.

Chapter Five: Ancient China

Chapter Five, students will be introduced to the history of ancient China.

 

 

Chapter Six: The Rise of Ancient Greece (3000 B.C.-350 B.C)

Chapter Six and Chapter Seven, students will analyze the cultural contributions of classical Greece, including contributions in politics, science, arts and architecture.

 

Chapter Seven: The Glory of Ancient Greece (700 B.C.-146 B.C)

Chapter Six and Chapter Seven, students will analyze the cultural contributions of classical Greece, including contributions in politics, science, arts and architecture.

 

Chapter Eight: The Rise of Ancient Rome (900 B.C.-A.D. 192)

Chapter Eight and Chapter Nine, students will learn about key factors in the growth and expansion of the Roman Republic and trace the transformation of Rome from republic to empire.  Students will also learn about Roman cultural contributions as well as analyze the reasons for the decline and fall of the Roman Empire.

 

Chapter Nine: The Fate of Ancient Rome (63 B.C.- A.D. 476)

Chapter Eight and Chapter Nine, students will learn about key factors in the growth and expansion of the Roman Republic and trace the transformation of Rome from republic to empire.  Students will also learn about Roman cultural contributions as well as analyze the reasons for the decline and fall of the Roman Empire.
